Tonight, Friday, 1/14/11, the “Art Zone” episode with El Vez hits the air at 8:00 PM on Seattle Channel 21.  The show will repeat later that evening, many times over the following  week, (www.seattlechannel.org/schedule), and, of course, will stream online: www.seattlechannel.org/artzone.

The episode will also air on KCTS Channel 9, but because KCTS is in pledge drive, this episode will air on Sunday, 1/16/11 @ 11:00 pm, with repeats at 5:00 am on Monday, 1/17/11, and 1:00 pm on Thursday, 1/20/11.

Tune in!

Call me Pancho

Yesterday I played drums for El Vez for the music segment on ArtZone with Nancy Guppy. It was really fun! I hadn’t played with any of them or either of the songs until we got into the TV studio, but I think I pulled it off okay. Brian from Teatro ZinZanni was there to document and put together a quick behind-the-scenes video which I’ve embedded below. Tune in Sunday to KCTS for the full episode!

First gig with Johnny Bregar

Yesterday was my first gig with Johnny Bregar and the ______________ (we’re days from having a new name). We played in the UW Bookstore/Top Pot in Mill Creek. I didn’t really know what to expect and was a little nervous just to be on “stage” for the first time with 4 other people I’d never gigged with before. Wow! What a show. It didn’t matter that kids are a forgiving crowd, we hit it. It went really fast and we had to skip a song or two. The best part was looking out and seeing my kids singing along.

Johnny Bregar show in Mill Creek

I’m excited to announce my first show with the Johnny Bregar Band this Saturday, January 8, at the Top Pot Doughnuts store in Mill Creek! I’ve been rehearsing with Johnny and the band for the last few months and I can’t wait to play my first-ever kids concert. The concert starts at 11:00 a.m. and is very definitely all ages! I hope to see you there!

Welcome!

Hey, you found me! I can’t believe I finally have a website for my drumming and teaching practice, but it’s really true. I’m still editing and figuring out exactly how I’m going to use the site, but I’m excited to have another outlet to talk about music. I’m not going to guarantee regular blog posts — I’ve seen too many broken promises on blogs — but I’ll keep my calendar and lesson info current and will attempt to keep the blog fresh too.
